My artistic disposition showed itself
early on in my childhood. Some of my most vivid memories include
drawing pictures of the little things I saw around me, making my own
doll's clothes out of extra material scraps from my mom's sewing
supplies, and redesigning my toys to fit my vision. At age eleven, I
received my first camera for a Christmas present. I quickly made a
model out of my best friend and practiced family portraits of Ken,
Barbie, and their kids.
Through high school, I
excelled in art class with painting and drawing as my favorites.
When I decided to study
photography in college, I truly discovered my passion for this art
form. My plan was to pursue a
career in photography, and I
started toward this goal.
I worked both
at a photography studio and as an event photographer, but as life
took some detours and threw in a couple of distractions, I easily
fell into plan B.
Although I
continued to enjoy photography in my spare time, it wasn't enough. I
absolutely love the time spent behind the lens, connecting with each
subject, learning from the results, and reliving those split seconds
that are captured. As life continued to present more turns and an
unexpected diversion I then realized how important to me my first
plan was, my PLAN A.
